In my last blog I gave you my impressions of the sound quality of some compressors and showed that these impressions correlate with certain issues in digital compressors. For part 2, I’ve performed a number of measurements that show us where the bodies are buried! Not to keep you in suspense, I did find some skeletons, but I’ve also also dug up a few undiscovered digital gems that I think greatly improve the sonic quality of our work “in the box”.
My report is too long for a blog, so here’s a new article which you can find in the articles section here at Digital Domain: "Analog Saved My Life: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" which can be found here. This is a must read for mixing and mastering engineers as well as digital designers.
